Content Update Policy

Drug, medicine and regulatory information does not remain equally reliable forever. New evidence is published, safety advice changes and laws are amended. PlusGBUK uses visible dates to help readers judge when a page was produced or reassessed.

Published, modified and reviewed dates

The publication date shows when an article first appeared. A modified date indicates a later substantive editorial update. A medical review date, where present, records when a qualified reviewer completed the stated clinical review. An evidence-check date may be used when the sources and factual claims were reassessed without requiring a full rewrite.

When we revisit content

Priority is given to pages where outdated information could materially affect a reader’s understanding of safety, treatment, interactions, emergency action, law or regulation. We may also update an article when a regulator issues new guidance, a significant body of evidence changes, a cited source is withdrawn or a recurring reader question shows that the explanation is unclear.

What a newer date does not guarantee

A recent date is not a substitute for good evidence. We do not change dates simply to make content appear fresh, and a minor typographical edit should not be presented as a substantive review.
